Job Description
We are seeking a highly dedicated and resilient Crime Scene Cleaner to join our specialized team on a public sector contract. This critical role involves performing comprehensive cleanup, decontamination, and restoration services at various sensitive sites, including crime scenes, trauma scenes, and biohazard environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in public health and safety, requiring strict adherence to protocols, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work in emotionally challenging situations. This position offers high pay commensurate with the specialized nature and demands of the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute thorough cleaning, disinfection, and deodorization of scenes contaminated with biological and chemical hazards.
- Strictly adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and other federal/state/local regulations and company safety protocols.
- Safely operate and maintain specialized cleaning equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Properly handle, package, and dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Document all work performed, including site conditions, procedures, and materials used, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communicate sensitively and professionally with supervisors, clients, and emergency personnel.
- Respond to emergency call-outs, often outside of regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Restore affected areas to a safe and habitable condition, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in emotionally challenging and sensitive environments.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and meticulous adherence to established protocols and safety procedures.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
- Prior experience in biohazard remediation, crime scene cleanup, emergency services, or a related specialized cleaning/restoration field.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to biohazard waste disposal and environmental safety.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working under public sector contracts or for government agencies.
