Job Description

Edelman is seeking a talented and driven WFH Social Media Manager with a deep understanding of political landscapes and policy communication to join our dynamic Public Affairs team. In this 100% remote role, you will be instrumental in developing and executing social media strategies for clients operating in complex political and policy environments. You will craft compelling narratives, manage digital campaigns, monitor real-time trends, and engage with key stakeholders to influence public discourse and achieve client objectives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in digital advocacy, content creation, and community management within a political or policy context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies aligned with client political and policy objectives.
  • Create engaging and persuasive content (text, image, video) for various social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Monitor social media channels for relevant conversations, policy developments, and emerging political trends.
  • Manage paid social media campaigns, including audience targeting, budget allocation, and performance analysis.
  • Analyze social media data and metrics to report on campaign effectiveness and optimize future strategies.
  • Engage with online communities, influencers, and stakeholders to foster dialogue and build advocacy.
  • Stay abreast of changes in social media algorithms, tools, and best practices, particularly as they relate to political communications.
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on best practices for political and policy-focused social media engagement.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in social media management, specifically in political campaigns, public affairs, policy advocacy, or government relations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crafting compelling narratives and messaging for political and policy topics.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms and their respective analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising principles and campaign management (e.g., Facebook Ads Manager, Twitter Ads).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Deep knowledge of US political processes, public policy issues, and legislative landscapes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience with social listening tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Meltwater).
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for content creation.
  • Experience managing crisis communications on social media.
  • Understanding of ethical guidelines and regulations for political communications online.
