Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Chemist to join our state-of-the-art Diagnostic Medical Lab team. This position involves performing complex analytical procedures, developing and validating new assays, ensuring quality control, and providing expert consultation on laboratory results. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic accuracy and contributing to patient care through advanced laboratory science. This role includes a shift differential for evening, night, and weekend rotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex clinical chemistry assays, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (CAP, CLIA, etc.).
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs, including proficiency testing.
  • Provide expert consultation to clinicians regarding test selection, interpretation, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, laboratory technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in teaching, training, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives within the clinical chemistry department.

Required Skills

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience in a high-volume clinical diagnostic laboratory.
  • Proficiency in method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LIS (Laboratory Information System) management and optimization.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry and other advanced analytical techniques.
  • Experience in an academic medical center setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.
