Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Pharmacy Billing Coordinator to join our administrative team in Downtown San Jose. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely submission of pharmacy claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines. This position focuses heavily on administrative tasks, requiring strong organizational skills and a meticulous approach to data entry and record-keeping. Key Responsibilities

  • Process and submit pharmacy claims to various insurance providers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims promptly, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies to clarify billing issues and collect necessary information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy billing regulations, coding guidelines (e.g., CPT, HCPCS), and payer policies.
  • Reconcile payment discrepancies and manage accounts receivable related to pharmacy services.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures related to pharmacy billing and revenue.
  • Support administrative functions within the pharmacy department as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical or pharmacy billing.
  • Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of insurance claim submission processes and denial management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CPB).
  • Experience with pharmacy-specific billing systems (e.g., Epic Willow, Rx30).
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and drug classifications.
