Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lowboy Trailer Driver to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX. As a Lowboy Trailer Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of various heavy equipment and oversized loads to and from job sites. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to all safety regulations, and a strong commitment to timely and secure deliveries. Key Responsibilities
- Operate lowboy trailers and other heavy haul equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load, secure, and unload a wide range of heavy machinery and oversized components, ensuring compliance with all securing regulations and weight limits.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, documenting any deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, trip reports, and all required documentation in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, project managers, and clients regarding transport schedules and potential delays.
- Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment as needed.
- Represent Mammoet professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment.
- Proven knowledge of DOT regulations, oversized load requirements, and safe load securement practices.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to read maps and use GPS navigation systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, lifting, bending, and securing loads in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialized permits and routing for oversized loads.
- Familiarity with various types of heavy construction and industrial equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of diesel engine operation.
- HAZMAT endorsement is a plus.
