Job Description
Are you friendly, energetic, and looking for an entry-level opportunity to kickstart your career in customer service? Save-On-Foods in Trail is seeking a dedicated and flexible Cashier & Till Operator to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals with no prior experience who are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic retail environment. You will be the face of our store, ensuring a positive shopping experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment with precision and integrity.
- Provide exceptional customer service, greeting each customer with a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized checkout area.
- Assist customers with bagging groceries and carrying items to their vehicles when necessary.
- Answer customer inquiries, provide information about products and services, and direct them to relevant departments.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to age verification for restricted items.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive shopping experience.
Required Skills
- Basic mathematical skills to accurately handle transactions and make change.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- A customer service-oriented attitude with a genuine desire to assist shoppers.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role (e.g., volunteer work, school projects).
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
