Job Description
Join The Home Depot team as a Carpet Tear-Out Laborer, playing a crucial role in the initial phase of home renovation projects. This entry-level position involves preparing residential and commercial sites for new flooring installations by safely and efficiently removing old carpeting, padding, and subfloor materials. You will be responsible for ensuring a clean and prepped surface for the next stages of renovation, working closely with our installation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently remove old carpeting, padding, and associated tack strips from various surfaces.
- Carefully remove subfloor materials as instructed, preparing the base for new installations.
- Properly dispose of debris and waste materials in designated containers, maintaining a clean work environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools (e.g., pry bars, utility knives, scrapers, vacuums) safely and effectively.
- Assist skilled installers with other site preparation tasks as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
- Attention to detail to ensure thorough removal and site cleanliness.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and their safe operation.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction, demolition, or general labor.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with residential renovation processes.
- OSHA 10 or similar safety certification.
