Job Description

Are you a naturally caring and empathetic individual looking to make a real difference in your community? Bayshore Home Health is seeking compassionate Caregivers/Companions to provide essential support and companionship to clients in their homes throughout Burnaby. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals who are new to caregiving, as no prior certification is required to start – we provide comprehensive training! Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm and engaging companionship to clients, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support (where applicable, after training).
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Assist with medication reminders, ensuring clients take their prescriptions on schedule.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social activities.
  • Engage clients in stimulating activities like reading, games, walks, or hobbies.
  • Observe and report any changes in the client's condition or behavior to the supervisory team.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and client progress.

Required Skills

  • Genuine compassion and empathy for others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred for client visits).
  • Clear criminal record check (required upon offer of employment).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a caregiving, customer service, or hospitality role is an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (will provide training if not currently certified).
  • Ability to speak multiple languages relevant to the local community.
