Job Description
Join CATSA as an Aviation Security Screener and become a crucial part of Canada’s national security efforts. In this vital role, you will be responsible for applying security procedures to ensure the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and aircraft. We are looking for dedicated individuals with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to public safety. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to meet the challenges of this dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening of passengers, carry-on baggage, and checked baggage using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Verify passenger identification and boarding passes.
- Monitor security equipment, including X-ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive trace detection devices.
- Perform physical searches of individuals and items as required, in accordance with established procedures.
- Respond to and report suspicious activities or security breaches to appropriate authorities.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance and attention to detail at all times.
- Provide professional and courteous service to the traveling public while enforcing security regulations.
- Adhere to all CATSA security standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance (Reliability Status and Secret Clearance).
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, customer service, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
