Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Automated Dispensing Machine Tech to join our hospital systems team in South Gate, California. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated medication dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) within our hospital environment. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of these machines, directly impacting medication safety, inventory management, and patient care workflows. This position requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of automated dispensing machines (ADMs) and related hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with ADMs, including hardware malfunctions, software errors, and network connectivity problems.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff, IT, and nursing units to ensure ADM functionality meets operational needs and compliance standards.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and decommissioning of ADMs.
  • Manage and track inventory within ADMs, ensuring accurate stock levels and preventing discrepancies.
  • Provide training and support to healthcare staff on the proper use and basic troubleshooting of ADMs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and system configurations.
  • Participate in system upgrades and enhancements to improve ADM performance and integration.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and compliance requirements related to medication management and device maintenance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with automated medication dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for system configuration and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and patient safety.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Biomedical Technology, IT, or a related field.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards related to medication management.
