Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Audio Systems Designer with a strong focus on AV integration to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for designing sophisticated audio solutions for a diverse range of projects, from corporate boardrooms and educational facilities to large-scale venues. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of acoustics, signal flow, digital audio networking, and control systems, along with a proven track record of designing high-performance audio systems that integrate seamlessly with video and control elements. Key Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive audio systems for various environments, including corporate, education, government, and entertainment.
- Develop detailed system schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment lists using CAD software and other design tools.
- Conduct site surveys, acoustic analysis, and needs assessments to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and installers to ensure design intent is met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Specify appropriate audio equipment, including microphones, loudspeakers, amplifiers, DSPs, and mixers.
- Stay current with emerging audio technologies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance during system commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Participate in client presentations and proposal development, clearly articulating design concepts and benefits.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in audio system design within the AV integration industry.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for creating detailed system drawings.
- Expert knowledge of audio DSP platforms (e.g., Q-SYS, Biamp Tesira) and digital audio networking (e.g., Dante, AVB, AES67).
- Strong understanding of acoustic principles, room modeling, and sound reinforcement techniques.
- Experience with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX) integration relevant to audio.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with acoustic measurement and analysis software (e.g., EASE, Soundvision).
- Knowledge of video conferencing and unified communications platforms.
- IT/network certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA).
- Experience with large-scale sound system tuning and optimization.
