Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Apple Database Developer with a strong focus on SQL and Big Data technologies to join our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions crucial to Apple’s analytics, product development, and operational systems. You will work with vast datasets, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of our data infrastructure. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within the specified region. You will be a key contributor to our data engineering initiatives, driving innovation and efficiency in how we manage and utilize our most valuable asset: data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas for large-scale data systems.
- Implement and manage Big Data solutions using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or similar ecosystems.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient database designs.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
- Develop and maintain robust ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into our data warehouses and data lakes.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and potentially mentor junior developers.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database and Big Data technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
Required Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including advanced query optimization and database design principles.
- Proven experience (3+ years) with Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Flink, Kafka).
- Strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java) for data processing and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services related to data storage and processing.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with Apple's internal data ecosystems or similar large-scale, proprietary data environments.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB) is a significant plus.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) in a collaborative development environment.
