Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dental Decontamination Lead to join our dynamic team at Bupa Dental Care in St Albans. This pivotal role requires an expert in decontamination processes, technical training, and compliance within a dental setting. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of instrument decontamination, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of infection control, and providing comprehensive technical training to dental nurses and other team members. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all decontamination processes for dental instruments and equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to current HTM 01-05 guidelines and CQC regulations.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive technical training on decontamination procedures to new and existing staff.
- Conduct regular audits and maintain meticulous records of decontamination cycles and equipment maintenance.
- Identify and implement improvements to decontamination protocols and workflows.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on decontamination equipment, liaising with external engineers as required.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all decontamination-related queries and issues.
- Manage stock levels of decontamination supplies and order new materials as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and and continuous improvement within the practice.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to overall practice development.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in dental decontamination processes and infection control.
- Thorough knowledge of HTM 01-05 guidelines and CQC requirements.
- Experience in delivering technical training to dental professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognized qualification in decontamination or infection control (e.g., NEBDN Certificate in Decontamination).
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role within a dental practice.
- Familiarity with various types of dental decontamination equipment.
- First Aid certification.
