Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative After-School Music Program Leader to join our team in Antioch, California. This role is perfect for students or individuals passionate about music and youth development, offering a fun and supportive environment to make a real difference in children’s lives. You will be responsible for planning and leading engaging music activities, fostering a love for music, and creating a positive and safe space for participants. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging music curriculum and activities for diverse age groups (e.g., rhythm games, singing, instrument exploration, basic theory).
- Lead daily music sessions, ensuring a fun, interactive, and educational experience for all participants.
- Supervise children during program hours, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and teamwork through music.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and positively.
- Prepare and organize all necessary materials and equipment for music activities.
- Communicate effectively with program coordinators, parents, and other staff members.
- Monitor and record participant progress and attendance.
- Adhere to all Boys & Girls Club policies and safety guidelines.
- Assist with other program-related tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated passion for music and working with children.
- Basic proficiency in at least one musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice).
- Ability to lead and engage groups of children in a dynamic setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Basic understanding of child development and group management techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a music, education, or related program.
- Prior experience working with children or youth in an after-school, camp, or educational setting.
- Knowledge of various music genres and teaching methods.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with basic music software or digital music tools is a plus.
