Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative After-School Music Program Leader to join our team in Antioch, California. This role is perfect for students or individuals passionate about music and youth development, offering a fun and supportive environment to make a real difference in children’s lives. You will be responsible for planning and leading engaging music activities, fostering a love for music, and creating a positive and safe space for participants. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging music curriculum and activities for diverse age groups (e.g., rhythm games, singing, instrument exploration, basic theory).
  • Lead daily music sessions, ensuring a fun, interactive, and educational experience for all participants.
  • Supervise children during program hours, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and teamwork through music.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and positively.
  • Prepare and organize all necessary materials and equipment for music activities.
  • Communicate effectively with program coordinators, parents, and other staff members.
  • Monitor and record participant progress and attendance.
  • Adhere to all Boys & Girls Club policies and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with other program-related tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated passion for music and working with children.
  • Basic proficiency in at least one musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice).
  • Ability to lead and engage groups of children in a dynamic setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Basic understanding of child development and group management techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a music, education, or related program.
  • Prior experience working with children or youth in an after-school, camp, or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of various music genres and teaching methods.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with basic music software or digital music tools is a plus.
