Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Roofing Debris Cleanup Crew member for ground-level work. This entry-level position is crucial to maintaining a safe and organized construction site by efficiently collecting and disposing of various roofing scrap and debris. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, reliable, and committed to following all safety protocols. This role involves primarily ground-level cleanup, ensuring that the work area surrounding roofing operations remains clear of hazards. No experience is required, as we provide comprehensive on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and remove roofing debris, including old shingles, nails, wood scraps, and other construction waste from the ground level of job sites.
  • Sort and separate recyclable materials from general waste as instructed.
  • Load debris into designated containers or trucks for proper disposal.
  • Ensure the perimeter of the work site is clear and free of hazards for workers and the public.
  • Assist with site setup and tear-down as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other general labor duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety (training will be provided).
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction or general labor roles.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • First Aid and/or WHMIS certification (asset, but not required).
