Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate A&E Nurses to join our dynamic and busy Accident & Emergency Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment, providing urgent care to patients with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries. You will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and experience. This position is ideal for nurses passionate about emergency medicine and committed to continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate and high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with emergency conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Monitor patient progress, recognising and responding to changes in their condition.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and carers, providing clear explanations and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to trust policies and professional guidelines.
  • Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of A&E services.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and student nurses.

Required Skills

  • Current NMC registration (Adult Nurse)
  • Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience, preferably in an acute or emergency setting
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound knowledge of emergency care protocols and procedures
  • Proficiency in basic life support (BLS)
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) certification
  • Experience in triage assessment
  • Specialist emergency nursing qualifications or courses
