Job Description
Are you a budding web developer with a passion for e-commerce and a keen interest in the Shopify platform? Roots Corporation is seeking a Junior Web Developer with a Shopify focus to join our dynamic team in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. You will work closely with our e-commerce team to implement design changes, troubleshoot issues, and enhance the functionality of our online store. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and optimization of our Shopify e-commerce platform.
- Implement front-end design changes and enhancements using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Collaborate with designers and marketing teams to translate UI/UX designs into functional Shopify features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the Shopify theme, apps, and functionalities.
- Conduct thorough testing to ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness.
- Support the integration of third-party applications and tools into the Shopify store.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify features, industry trends, and development tools.
- Document development processes and solutions.
Required Skills
- Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Basic understanding of the Shopify platform (familiarity with themes, sections, templates)
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and coding practices
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Liquid templating language (Shopify's proprietary language)
- Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git
- Understanding of responsive design principles
- Any personal projects or portfolio demonstrating web development skills (e.g., a personal Shopify store, static websites)
- Relevant certifications or coursework in web development or e-commerce
