Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to start a career in surveying with full training provided? Arcadis is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Surveying Field Hands. This entry-level position is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is eager to learn new skills, and is comfortable with travel across various regions. You will play a crucial role in collecting essential data for a diverse range of projects, from infrastructure development to environmental studies, all while receiving comprehensive on-the-job training from experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior surveyors in conducting various types of field surveys, including topographical, boundary, and construction layout.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as GPS receivers, total stations, and levels.
  • Perform physical tasks including setting up tripods, holding prism poles, and marking survey points.
  • Record field notes, measurements, and other data accurately and legibly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company procedures on all job sites.
  • Travel to project sites across different regions as required, which may involve overnight stays.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and landowners.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid UK driving license and a clean driving record.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or outdoor manual labor is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics and geometry.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
