Job Description
Are you a responsible 14-year-old with a budding interest in plants and a desire to learn? Rainbow Gardens is seeking enthusiastic and reliable teens to join our team as Greenhouse Helpers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant horticultural environment, learn about plant care, and contribute to our mission of nurturing green spaces. You will primarily assist with watering and general plant maintenance tasks under the guidance of our experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily watering of various plants in the greenhouse and nursery areas.
- Help with general plant care, including light pruning, deadheading, and ensuring plants are healthy.
- Support staff in organizing and tidying greenhouse displays and work areas.
- Potting young plants and transplanting seedlings as needed.
- Monitor plants for signs of pests or diseases and report findings to supervisors.
- Assist customers with finding basic items and carrying purchases to vehicles.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Eagerness to learn about plants and gardening.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work independently.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift light objects (up to 15 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying greenhouse conditions (temperature, humidity).
- Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Genuine interest in plants, gardening, or environmental science.
- Previous experience with household chores or helping in a garden.
- Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
