Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at our key retail facility in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, productivity, and profitability, while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and colleague welfare. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in managing large teams and complex operational processes within a fast-paced retail or logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimise daily operational processes to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of colleagues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Manage inventory, stock control, and supply chain logistics to prevent shortages and waste.
- Oversee facility maintenance and ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve overarching business objectives and improve customer satisfaction.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Implement new operational strategies and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar senior role in retail or logistics.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in operational software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrable problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial management, and performance metrics.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or other process improvement frameworks.
- Knowledge of local market trends and customer demographics in the Plymouth area.
- Valid UK driving license.
