Job Description
Are you a recent Chemistry graduate eager to kickstart your career in a dynamic and innovative research and development environment? BASF is excited to launch our New Graduate Program for Associate Chemist I. This full-time, entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive mentorship, hands-on laboratory experience, and exposure to cutting-edge chemical research and development processes. You will work alongside experienced chemists, contributing to real-world projects, and developing foundational skills essential for a successful career in the chemical industry. This program is ideal for individuals passionate about chemistry, committed to learning, and ready to make tangible contributions from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute laboratory experiments following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and samples accurately.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis).
- Record, analyze, and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of new chemical processes and products.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, senior chemists, and cross-functional departments.
- Participate in regular team meetings and present findings as required.
- Adhere to all company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Engage actively in the mentorship program, seeking guidance and feedback.
- Support general lab upkeep and inventory management.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry principles.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and safety practices.
- Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior undergraduate research experience or internship in a chemistry-related field.
- Familiarity with chemical safety data sheets (SDS) and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Experience with data analysis software or statistical tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
