Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, design, and creating captivating visual experiences? Macy’s is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our team as a Visual Merchandising Assistant (Trainee). This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn the fundamentals of visual merchandising from the ground up. We provide comprehensive, hands-on training to help you develop the skills needed to design stunning in-store displays, showcase our products beautifully, and contribute to an engaging customer environment. No prior experience is required – just a keen eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and a desire to learn!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior visual merchandisers in the execution of window displays, in-store product presentations, and promotional setups.
- Learn and apply Macy's visual standards and guidelines to ensure consistent brand representation.
- Support the setup and takedown of seasonal, promotional, and special event displays.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of visual merchandising storage areas and props.
- Learn about mannequin styling, product placement, lighting techniques, and signage implementation.
- Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure visual standards are upheld throughout the store.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure merchandise is adequately stocked and presented visually appealingly.
- Provide feedback on display effectiveness and customer engagement.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in fashion, retail, or interior design.
- Creative eye and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move display materials (up to 25 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of design principles or color theory.
- Previous experience in a retail environment (even non-visual merchandising specific).
- Proficiency with basic hand tools (training will be provided).
