Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated UPS Chiropody Assistant with a strong focus on Elderly Care to join our team in Vacaville, CA. In this vital role, you will work closely with our chiropodists to provide essential foot care services, ensuring the comfort and health of our elderly patients. As a Chiropody Assistant specializing in elderly care, you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, providing direct support to chiropodists and ensuring a smooth, comfortable experience for patients. This role requires a gentle touch, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to assist our senior population with their unique foot health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to established protocols.
- Assist the chiropodist during examinations and treatments, including preparing patients, passing instruments, and observing procedures.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care instructions to patients and their caregivers.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Clean and dress wounds, apply bandages, and provide basic foot care under supervision.
- Educate patients and their families on proper foot hygiene, footwear, and preventative care for elderly individuals.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks as needed.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all patients, adhering to infection control guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to assist healthcare professionals in a clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially with elderly patients and their families.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- High level of empathy, patience, and compassion for elderly individuals.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and scheduling.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or similar healthcare assistant program.
- Previous experience in a podiatry, chiropody, or elderly care setting.
- Knowledge of common foot conditions affecting the elderly.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages spoken in the local community.
