Job Description
Join DSV as an Export Fumigation Assistant and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and compliant preparation of containers for international shipping. This position is vital to our global supply chain operations, focusing on the meticulous handling and treatment of goods to meet stringent international phytosanitary and quarantine regulations. You will work within a dynamic team, ensuring all export containers are prepared and documented accurately for fumigation processes, contributing directly to the smooth flow of international trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare export containers by sealing, cleaning, and organizing goods according to specific fumigation protocols.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of containers, ensuring proper segregation of goods prior to treatment.
- Verify and document container contents, identifying any potential pest risks or non-compliant materials.
- Follow strict safety procedures and guidelines when handling materials and working around fumigation areas.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and potentially forklifts (if certified) to move goods.
- Maintain accurate records of all pre-fumigation checks, container preparation, and associated documentation.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with fumigation specialists and logistics coordinators to ensure timely processing of shipments.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area, adhering to all health and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols diligently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Physical fitness, capable of lifting and moving heavy items (up to 25kg) and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or shipping environment.
- Familiarity with international shipping regulations or phytosanitary requirements.
- Valid forklift operator certification (reach truck or counterbalance).
- Basic understanding of pest control or fumigation processes.
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations.
