Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shopify Developer with a strong focus on Liquid programming to join our growing e-commerce team. As a Senior Liquid Programmer, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and maintaining our Shopify Plus storefronts, ensuring a seamless and high-performance online shopping experience for millions of Canadians. You will work closely with designers, product managers, and other developers to translate complex business requirements into elegant and scalable front-end solutions. This role demands a deep understanding of Shopify’s architecture, API integrations, and best practices for theme development and customization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of new features and functionalities for Shopify Plus storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Optimize existing Shopify themes for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate visual designs into high-quality, responsive web interfaces.
- Integrate third-party applications, APIs, and custom services into the Shopify ecosystem.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex front-end issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify updates, e-commerce trends, and web technologies.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of our e-commerce roadmap.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional experience in Shopify theme development, specifically with Shopify Plus.
- Expert-level proficiency in Liquid templating language.
- Strong command of HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS/SASS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Extensive experience with Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin API).
- Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git.
- Experience optimizing website performance for speed and SEO.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
- Experience with headless Shopify implementations (e.g., using React, Next.js, or similar frameworks).
- Familiarity with various Shopify apps and their integrations (e.g., Recharge, Klaviyo, Yotpo).
- Experience with UI frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
- Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) techniques.
