Job Description

We are seeking meticulous and detail-oriented individuals for a Berry Sorter role at our Harrogate distribution facility. This is a comfortable, sit-down position within a light industrial environment, focused on ensuring the highest quality of fresh berries. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect, sort, and prepare various types of berries for packaging and distribution. The work involves careful handling and a keen eye for identifying imperfections, contributing directly to the quality standards Asda is known for. This role requires adherence to strict food safety and hygiene protocols within a temperature-controlled setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully inspect incoming fresh berries for quality, ripeness, and any defects.
  • Sort berries according to specific criteria, including size, colour, and overall condition.
  • Gently pack sorted berries into appropriate containers, ensuring optimal presentation.
  • Identify and remove any damaged, overripe, or substandard produce.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic workstation at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily sorting and production targets.
  • Report any quality control issues or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor.

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Basic understanding of English for communication and safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food production, quality control, or light industrial setting.
