Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Sheet Music Editor to join our remote team. This role demands an exceptional eye for detail and a deep understanding of music notation to ensure the highest level of accuracy in our published sheet music. As a Sheet Music Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing, correcting, and preparing various types of musical scores for publication, working entirely from home. Your precision will be critical in maintaining the integrity and clarity of our extensive musical catalog.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive proofreading and editing of sheet music to identify and correct errors in notation, harmony, rhythm, and text.
- Ensure adherence to established style guides, engraving standards, and copyright regulations.
- Verify the accuracy of lyrics, chord symbols, and any accompanying textual information.
- Collaborate with composers, arrangers, and other editorial staff to resolve discrepancies and implement revisions.
- Prepare scores for print and digital distribution using professional music notation software.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Provide constructive feedback on musical arrangements and notation practices.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for accuracy.
- Proficiency in music theory, harmony, and counterpoint.
- Expert-level command of at least one major music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale, Dorico).
- Proven experience in editing and proofreading sheet music.
- Strong understanding of musical terminology and notation conventions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
