Job Description
Embark on an exciting and critical career path with Aurizon as a Freight Train Conductor Trainee. You will develop expertise in coupling/uncoupling wagons, inspecting rolling stock, managing train movements, and responding to operational challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete the comprehensive paid academy training program, mastering all theoretical and practical aspects of freight train operations.
- Learn and adhere strictly to all safety procedures, railway operating rules, and company policies.
- Assist experienced conductors in pre-departure inspections of rolling stock, locomotives, and braking systems.
- Participate in the coupling and uncoupling of wagons, ensuring correct configuration and secure connections.
- Monitor train movements, signals, and track conditions to ensure safe passage.
- Communicate effectively with train drivers, control centre personnel, and other team members.
- Learn to identify and report any defects, malfunctions, or hazards promptly.
- Under supervision, assist with shunting movements and other yard operations.
- Maintain accurate records and complete necessary documentation.
- Be prepared for irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as extended periods away from home due to travel requirements.
