Key Responsibilities

• Successfully complete the comprehensive paid academy training program, mastering all theoretical and practical aspects of freight train operations.
• Learn and adhere strictly to all safety procedures, railway operating rules, and company policies.
• Assist experienced conductors in pre-departure inspections of rolling stock, locomotives, and braking systems.
• Participate in the coupling and uncoupling of wagons, ensuring correct configuration and secure connections.
• Monitor train movements, signals, and track conditions to ensure safe passage.
• Communicate effectively with train drivers, control centre personnel, and other team members.
• Learn to identify and report any defects, malfunctions, or hazards promptly.
• Under supervision, assist with shunting movements and other yard operations.
• Maintain accurate records and complete necessary documentation.
• Be prepared for irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as extended periods away from home due to travel requirements.
