Job Description

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a motivated Public Health Educator Trainee to join our dynamic team in Sydney. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in public health education and community outreach programs. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of health education programs and materials.
- Support community outreach efforts to engage diverse populations on various public health topics.
- Conduct basic research and gather data to inform health promotion strategies.
- Facilitate workshops and presentations on health topics, under supervision.
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to identify health needs and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant engagement.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Provide health information and resources to individuals and groups as directed.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of public health principles or a strong willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse community members respectfully.
- Enthusiasm for health promotion and community service.
Preferred Qualifications
- A volunteer background in health, education, or community service.
- Familiarity with local community resources in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
- Experience with public speaking or delivering presentations.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
