Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Natural Products Chemist with a focus on herbal and supplement analysis to join our innovative team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing analytical methods, conducting research on botanical extracts, ensuring product quality, and supporting the development of new and existing herbal and dietary supplement products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry, specifically with natural products, and a passion for holistic health and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for the identification, quantification, and characterization of active compounds in herbal extracts and finished supplement products.
- Perform routine and complex chemical analyses using techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, spectroscopy (UV/Vis, FTIR), and other relevant methodologies.
- Conduct research on the chemical composition and biological activity of various botanicals and natural ingredients.
- Interpret analytical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., cGMP, FDA) and internal quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality Control, and Product Development teams to support new product formulations and optimize existing ones.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental procedures, results, and analyses.
- Stay updated on new analytical technologies, scientific literature, and regulatory changes in the natural products industry.
- Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting analytical instrumentation and method-related issues.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in natural products chemistry, herbal analysis, or dietary supplement quality control/R&D.
- Extensive hands-on experience with advanced analytical techniques including HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, and UV/Vis spectroscopy.
- Strong understanding of botanical constituents, their properties, and potential interactions.
- Proficiency in method development and validation according to industry standards.
- Excellent data interpretation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with cGMP, FDA regulations, and other relevant quality standards for dietary supplements.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration with team members.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a wide range of botanical matrices and complex natural product formulations.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software for data interpretation.
- Prior experience in a remote work setting.
- Familiarity with plant-based medicine or traditional herbal systems.
