Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Fencing Operative to join our team in Macclesfield. This is an outdoor manual role vital to our construction and landscaping services, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of various fencing systems. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual who thrives in an outdoor environment, possesses strong practical skills, and is committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while adhering to safety standards. You will be an integral part of a team, contributing to projects that enhance local infrastructure and properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain a variety of fencing types (e.g., timber, metal, chain link, security) according to specifications and safety guidelines.
- Prepare work sites, including clearing vegetation, digging post holes, and setting foundations.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently (e.g., post-hole diggers, drills, saws).
- Measure, cut, and assemble fencing materials with precision.
- Work effectively as part of a team, assisting colleagues with heavy lifting and complex tasks.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, meeting project deadlines and quality expectations.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, reporting any defects.
- Assist with site clean-up and waste removal upon project completion.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and any issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in manual labour or outdoor construction/landscaping roles.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, digging, and working in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in using a range of hand tools and basic power tools.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a construction environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically in fencing installation or groundwork.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- CSCS card or similar construction safety certification.
- Experience operating specialist machinery (e.g., mini diggers, post drivers).
- Formal training or qualifications in construction, landscaping, or a related field.
