Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our culinary team immediately. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the hospitality industry, as no prior experience is necessary. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, supporting our chefs and ensuring smooth daily operations. Key Responsibilities
- Wash and properly store all dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area, including floors, walls, and work surfaces.
- Assist with the unloading and storage of deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
- Manage waste disposal, including emptying bins and ensuring recycling protocols are followed.
- Support chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the kitchen supervisor.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced environment (e.g., retail, cleaning) is beneficial.
- Food Handler's Permit (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
