Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and focused Pecan / Nut Shelling Operative to join our processing team in Manchester. This is a sit-down role primarily focused on quality control and the meticulous shelling or sorting of pecans and other nuts. You will be an integral part of ensuring our products meet Whitworths’ stringent quality standards before they reach our customers. This position requires excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual shelling and sorting of pecans and other nuts, identifying and removing any foreign materials or substandard nuts.
  • Operate and monitor shelling machinery, ensuring efficient and safe performance.
  • Conduct quality checks on processed nuts, ensuring they meet company specifications and food safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all hygiene and sanitation protocols.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist with packaging and labelling of finished products as required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or product quality issues to the line supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets.
