Job Description

Join The Home Depot team in Abbotsford as a Hardware Store Sorter, focusing on efficient product organization, inventory management, and enhancing the customer experience. This role is perfect for individuals eager to learn, contribute to a dynamic retail environment, and develop their skills in customer interaction and operational training. You will be responsible for ensuring our shelves are well-stocked and organized, assisting customers with product inquiries, and supporting the training of new team members on sorting best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently sort, organize, and stock incoming merchandise according to store planograms and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and sales floor, including aisles and storage areas.
  • Assist customers in locating products, providing product information, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Support the training of new associates on sorting procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, if certified (training provided).
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies to management.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals and maintain store standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
  • Basic understanding of customer service principles.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with hardware products or home improvement supplies.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
