Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, design, and creating captivating visual experiences? Dillard’s in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Visual Merchandising Assistant Trainee to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to launch a career in visual merchandising, with full training provided. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning the art and science of display design, store aesthetics, and merchandise presentation to enhance our brand image and drive sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Visual Merchandising Manager in planning, executing, and maintaining captivating store displays and visual presentations.
- Learn and apply Dillard's visual standards to ensure consistent brand representation across all departments.
- Support the setup and takedown of seasonal promotions, special events, and new merchandise launches.
- Organize and maintain visual props, fixtures, and signage inventory.
- Collaborate with sales associates and department managers to ensure merchandise is effectively presented and replenished.
- Monitor store displays for cleanliness, appeal, and compliance with company guidelines, making adjustments as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to develop expertise in visual merchandising techniques, trends, and product knowledge.
Required Skills
- Eagerness to learn and a strong interest in fashion, retail, or interior design.
- Creative flair and an eye for aesthetics and detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that involve bending, reaching, and climbing ladders.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of design principles or visual composition.
- Previous experience in a retail environment (even if not visual merchandising specific).
- Portfolio (even if personal projects) showcasing creative work is a plus but not required for this trainee role.
