Job Description

Are you a highly motivated student looking to gain hands-on experience in industrial hygiene and factory compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Tesla is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Intern to join our dynamic Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in Fremont, CA. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges, support critical factory compliance initiatives, and contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees. You will work closely with experienced EHS professionals, gaining exposure to various aspects of industrial hygiene, risk assessment, and regulatory adherence in a cutting-edge automotive manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting industrial hygiene surveys and assessments, including air sampling, noise monitoring, and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Support the development and implementation of EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., Cal/OSHA, EPA).
  • Collect and analyze data related to workplace hazards, incident investigations, and safety performance metrics.
  • Help prepare technical reports, presentations, and training materials on industrial hygiene topics.
  • Participate in EHS audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and facilities, to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Research best practices in industrial hygiene and factory compliance to inform program enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to industrial hygiene monitoring and compliance activities.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Public Health, or a related scientific/engineering field.
  • Strong understanding of basic industrial hygiene principles and EHS regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in an EHS or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with Cal/OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with data analysis software or EHS management systems.
  • Completion of relevant coursework in toxicology, epidemiology, or risk assessment.
