Job Description
Join Corewell Health as a Float Pool Nurse and experience the dynamic world of healthcare across a variety of units. This unique role offers an exceptional opportunity to expand your clinical skills, gain diverse experience, and significantly impact patient care across different specialties within our Grand Rapids facilities. We are offering an increased base pay for this critical role, recognizing the versatility and adaptability required. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care, adapting seamlessly to the specific needs of each unit, including medical-surgical, critical care, and specialty areas. This position is ideal for experienced nurses seeking challenge, growth, and the ability to work with diverse patient populations and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and other nursing interventions, across various units.
- Float to different units as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to new environments and patient populations.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, specialists, and support staff, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Accurately document patient care, observations, and responses to treatment in electronic health records.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in unit-specific and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all professional nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in the State of Michigan
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and patient needs
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in multiple clinical specialties (e.g., Med-Surg, ICU, ED)
- ACLS and PALS certifications
- Previous float pool experience
