Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Grant Writing Assistant to join our remote team. This role is crucial in supporting our mission by assisting non-profit organizations across Canada in securing vital funding. You will work closely with various non-profit clients, researchers, and project managers to prepare compelling grant proposals, manage application processes, and research funding opportunities. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact from your home office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Assist in the preparation, writing, and editing of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials.
  • Gather and organize supporting documents for grant submissions, including budgets, program descriptions, and organizational history.
  • Maintain a grant calendar and tracking system to monitor application deadlines, submission statuses, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with non-profit clients to understand their needs, programs, and funding priorities.
  • Ensure all grant applications are submitted accurately and on time, adhering to funder guidelines.
  • Proofread and format documents to ensure high-quality, error-free submissions.
  • Support the development of standardized templates and best practices for grant writing.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team.
  • A passion for supporting non-profit organizations and their missions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in grant writing, proposal development, or professional writing.
  • Familiarity with grant database software or CRM systems.
  • Understanding of the Canadian charitable sector and fundraising landscape.
