Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented State Geological Survey Assistant to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. This crucial role provides administrative support to our geological staff and plays a key part in managing government benefits information for our employees. The ideal candidate will assist with data compilation, record-keeping, and general office duties, while also acting as a liaison for employee benefit inquiries and documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative skills and an interest in public service and scientific support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to geological staff, including scheduling, correspondence, and report preparation.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of geological data, maps, and samples.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding state government benefits (health, retirement, leave, etc.).
  • Process and maintain accurate employee benefit records and ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Coordinate with state human resources departments on benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and general facility needs.
  • Compile and format data for presentations, publications, and outreach materials.
  • Handle incoming communications, including phone calls and emails, directing them to appropriate personnel.
