Job Description
As a Diplomatic Affairs Assistant, you will play a crucial support role within our Foreign Service Support team, contributing to projects that enhance diplomatic relations, international development, and global security. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about international affairs, foreign policy, and public service, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support to project managers and senior consultants engaged in foreign service and diplomatic initiatives.
- Conduct research and compile briefings on international relations, foreign policy issues, geopolitical developments, and specific country profiles.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal stakeholders and external clients, including government officials and international partners.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, conferences, and events, both in-person and virtual, often involving international participants and complex logistics.
- Maintain and organize diplomatic records, contact databases, and project documentation with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Facilitate communication and information flow between various internal teams and external diplomatic entities.
- Support travel arrangements and logistical planning for team members engaged in overseas missions or client engagements.
- Monitor relevant news and developments in international affairs to inform team discussions and project strategies.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Demonstrated interest in international relations, political science, or related fields.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Global Studies, or a related discipline.
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in a diplomatic setting, government agency, or international organization.
- Fluency in a second language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin).
- Familiarity with diplomatic protocols and international affairs research methodologies.
