Job Description
Monument Health is seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Medical Transcriptionists to support our healthcare providers. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals looking for a flexible side gig, allowing you to utilize your expertise from the comfort of your own home. You will be responsible for accurately transcribing medical reports, patient notes, and other dictated materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality and confidentiality. This 100% remote contract position offers flexibility and the chance to contribute to a vital healthcare service.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, patient histories, physicals, office notes, operative reports, consultations, discharge summaries, and other medical documentation.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness of transcribed documents, correcting any errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and medical terminology.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company policies.
- Manage workload efficiently to meet established turnaround times for transcription.
- Utilize medical reference materials and transcription software effectively.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members regarding any discrepancies or clarifications needed.
Required Skills
- Exceptional listening skills and ability to understand various accents and dictation styles.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Superior grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using medical transcription software and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification from an accredited medical transcription program (e.g., RHDS, CMT).
- Familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience transcribing across multiple medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, oncology).
- Ability to adapt quickly to new software and processes.
