Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a deep love for animals? Sydney Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our weekend team. This crucial role ensures the comfort, cleanliness, and well-being of our animal patients during their stay. Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and runs thoroughly and regularly.
  • Feed and water animals according to specific dietary instructions and schedules.
  • Monitor animals for signs of distress, illness, or changes in behavior and report observations to veterinary staff.
  • Exercise and walk animals safely and responsibly.
  • Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint and handling when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hospital grounds and common areas.
  • Do laundry, wash dishes, and assist with other general hospital cleaning duties.
  • Provide compassionate care and attention to all boarding and hospitalized animals.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love and compassion for animals.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail regarding cleanliness and animal well-being.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Reliable and punctual, especially for weekend shifts.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with animals (volunteer or paid) is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of animal behavior and common breeds.
