Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a deep love for animals? Sydney Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our weekend team. This crucial role ensures the comfort, cleanliness, and well-being of our animal patients during their stay. Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and runs thoroughly and regularly.
- Feed and water animals according to specific dietary instructions and schedules.
- Monitor animals for signs of distress, illness, or changes in behavior and report observations to veterinary staff.
- Exercise and walk animals safely and responsibly.
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint and handling when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of hospital grounds and common areas.
- Do laundry, wash dishes, and assist with other general hospital cleaning duties.
- Provide compassionate care and attention to all boarding and hospitalized animals.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail regarding cleanliness and animal well-being.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable and punctual, especially for weekend shifts.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals (volunteer or paid) is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and common breeds.
