Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RF Engineer to join our dynamic team in Salford, Greater Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, optimization, and performance analysis of radio frequency networks. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and quality of our wireless communication systems, contributing to the delivery of world-class connectivity solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of RF principles, antenna theory, propagation, and a strong capability in using RF planning and optimization tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and optimize RF networks for optimal coverage, capacity, and performance.
- Conduct RF drive tests, post-processing, and analysis to identify and resolve network performance issues.
- Perform link budget analysis, interference analysis, and capacity planning.
- Evaluate and select appropriate RF equipment, antennas, and passive components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network deployment, operations, and product development.
- Develop and implement network improvement strategies based on performance data and emerging technologies.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in RF engineering.
Required Skills
- Solid understanding of RF propagation, antenna theory, and wireless communication standards (e.g., 4G LTE, 5G NR).
- Proficiency in RF planning and optimization tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, TEMS, Nemo).
- Experience with network performance counters and KPIs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud-native network architectures and virtualized RAN.
- PMP or other relevant project management certifications.
- Previous experience working with major telecommunications vendors or operators.
