Job Description

Are you looking to start your career in property maintenance? BGIS is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Property Maintenance Assistant (Handyman/Mate) to join our team in Calgary. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople with various maintenance and repair tasks across commercial properties.
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work under supervision.
  • Conduct routine inspections of properties to identify and report maintenance needs.
  • Help with groundskeeping, including snow removal, landscaping support, and general site cleanliness.
  • Safely use and maintain hand and power tools, ensuring proper storage and functionality.
  • Support the coordination of external contractors and suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance practices or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or a hands-on hobby.
  • Basic knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a trade-related program.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
