Job Description
Are you looking to start your career in property maintenance? BGIS is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Property Maintenance Assistant (Handyman/Mate) to join our team in Calgary. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople with various maintenance and repair tasks across commercial properties.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work under supervision.
- Conduct routine inspections of properties to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Help with groundskeeping, including snow removal, landscaping support, and general site cleanliness.
- Safely use and maintain hand and power tools, ensuring proper storage and functionality.
- Support the coordination of external contractors and suppliers as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of general maintenance practices or a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or a hands-on hobby.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
- Enrollment in or completion of a trade-related program.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
