Job Description
Are you seeking an active, outdoor role within the agricultural sector right here in Bristol? Berry Gardens is looking for diligent and reliable Fruit Harvesting Operatives to join our local team. While our extensive grower network encompasses prime agricultural regions like the Garden of England in Kent, this specific opportunity is based in the Bristol area. You will play a crucial role in our operations, responsible for the careful and efficient harvesting of various soft fruits, ensuring our high standards of quality are met from field to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully harvest ripe fruit by hand, following specific picking guidelines to ensure optimal quality and minimize damage.
- Sort and pack fruit into appropriate containers, adhering to company quality control standards.
- Monitor fruit ripeness and quality, reporting any issues or concerns to a supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area, both in the field and during packing.
- Operate harvesting equipment and tools safely and effectively, if required (training provided).
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Work efficiently to meet daily harvesting targets and deadlines.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and a careful approach to handling delicate produce.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in fruit picking, horticulture, or agricultural work.
- Knowledge of different fruit varieties and harvesting techniques.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Driving license (due to varied field locations, if applicable).
