Job Description

Are you passionate about music and love working with young children? KinderCare Education is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Preschool Music Instructor to join our team in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is an entry-level opportunity, perfect for individuals with no prior professional experience but a strong desire to inspire a love of music in children aged 2-5. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging music lessons that introduce fundamental musical concepts through songs, movement, instruments, and creative play.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate music lessons and activities for preschool children.
  • Introduce basic musical concepts such as rhythm, tempo, pitch, and melody.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including singing, dancing, playing simple instruments, and storytelling.
  • Foster a positive, fun, and engaging learning environment where children feel comfortable exploring music.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and ensure the safety of all children during activities.
  • Communicate regularly with lead teachers and parents regarding children's progress and musical experiences.
  • Maintain and organize music-related materials and instruments.

Required Skills

  • Genuine passion for music and early childhood education.
  • Ability to sing in tune and lead musical activities with energy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with young children and parents.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Reliability and strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in music, education, or a related field is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of different musical instruments.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained upon hire).
