Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Marine Surveyor / Inspector to join our dynamic team in Tampa, Florida. This critical role involves conducting surveys and inspections of vessels, offshore units, and marine equipment to ensure compliance with international regulations, classification rules, and client specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing structural integrity, machinery, safety systems, and other critical components, providing expert technical advice, and generating detailed reports. This position offers relocation assistance for qualified candidates looking to make an impact in a thriving maritime hub. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform statutory and classification surveys on various types of vessels and offshore installations (e.g., hull, machinery, safety equipment, load lines).
  • Conduct inspections during new construction, repairs, modifications, and for condition assessment.
  • Verify compliance with international conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC), national regulations, and Bureau Veritas rules.
  • Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely survey reports, certificates, and documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients, shipyards, and marine operators.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and failures, determining causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime regulations, industry standards, and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure service quality and client satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Marine Surveyor, Marine Engineer, or similar role in the maritime industry.
  • Thorough understanding of international maritime conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL) and classification rules.
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed inspections and analytical assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report generation and client interaction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and report writing software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the region and occasionally internationally.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer, P.E.).
  • Previous experience with a classification society or regulatory body.
  • Familiarity with specific vessel types or offshore unit designs.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to international maritime operations.
  • Experience with digital surveying tools and data analysis platforms.
