Job Description
Are you a meticulous and experienced medical transcriptionist looking for a flexible side gig? HCA Florida Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Medical Transcriptionist to join our extended team. This 100% remote, contract position offers the opportunity to leverage your specialized expertise in medical terminology and documentation accuracy from anywhere. You will play a crucial role in converting audio recordings from medical practitioners into precise, comprehensive textual records, directly supporting our mission to provide exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physicals, office notes, consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, and other medical documents, accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure strict adherence to all medical, legal, and ethical guidelines, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Review and edit transcribed drafts for accuracy, completeness, grammar, punctuation, and clarity.
- Maintain a high level of productivity while meeting established turnaround times.
- Utilize transcription software and reference materials effectively to resolve discrepancies and ensure correct medical terminology.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding any unclear dictations or issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist, especially with specialized medical dictation.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional listening skills and the ability to discern various accents and dictation styles.
- Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM with high accuracy.
- Familiarity with medical transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a secure, private workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification from an accredited Medical Transcription program.
- Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) credential.
- Experience with specific dictation platforms used by HCA Florida Healthcare.
- Familiarity with different medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, oncology, orthopedics).
