Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Quality Assurance Chemist to join our dynamic team in Orlando, Florida. This pivotal role involves ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety for our extensive range of food and beverage products. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting rigorous chemical analyses, implementing quality control procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, titration).
- Ensure all testing procedures comply with internal specifications, industry standards (e.g., FDA, USDA), and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate out-of-specification results, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods as needed to support product development and quality initiatives.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and accurate results.
- Document all analytical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and other departments to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 22000, HACCP).
- Train junior laboratory personnel on analytical techniques and quality procedures.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory operations and quality systems.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a Quality Assurance or Analytical Chemistry role within the food and beverage industry.
- Proficiency with various analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and pH meters.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, GMPs) and quality management systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or Food Science.
- Certifications in HACCP, PCQI, or relevant quality standards.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Prior experience in method development and validation.
