Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and organized Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team in Reading. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the broader finance department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting career within a leading professional services firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and process payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
  • Support year-end audit preparations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve financial discrepancies.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a professional services or accounting firm.
  • Familiarity with UK tax regulations (VAT, PAYE).
